As promised yesterday, here is a short history of peppermint!
Peppermint as we know it today is actually a hybrid of spearmint and watermint
Greeks and Romans flavored their sauces and wines with mint
While Greeks didn't use traditional peppermint, Egyptians may have as it has been found in their pyramids
Icelandic pharmacies as used peppermint as far back as the 13th century
Peppermint was introduced to Europe in the 18th century
Peppermint can be grown nearly everywhere, but the most flavorful comes from England
Throughout history, peppermint has been used for indigestion, toothaches, cold and flu, and more
Peppermint tea can cause insomnia so it's best avoided at night
Interesting, right?  #nowyouknow
